Fatal Truck Accidents in Oregon
Fatal truck crashes take the lives of thousands of people in the United States each year. Unfortunately, many of these accidents are preventable, yet we continue to see countless innocent people die as a result of negligent drivers. Leading factors in fatal truck crashes here in Oregon include:
- Driver fatigue: Drivers who are too tired to operate their vehicles continue to be a leading cause of serious accidents in our state. Regrettably, we see many truck drivers operate their vehicles while tired or fatigued, which can be just as deadly as intoxication.
- Impairment: Drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol are likely to lose control of their vehicles and crash into others. Impairment can dramatically decrease a driver’s judgment and their ability to safely operate their vehicle.
- Distractions: We see far too many accidents take place as a result of drivers who are texting on their phones, eating, talking to passengers, or even chatting on CB radios. When drivers take their attention off the road, it can have severe consequences for other people nearby.
- Speeding: Speeding in any vehicle can be incredibly dangerous and can quickly result in drivers losing control of their vehicles and traveling over the center lanes. Unfortunately, speeding in a semi-truck can be even more destructive due to its size and weight. When speeding semi-trucks crash into other people or objects, the results can be disastrous.
