Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Portland, Oregon
Every day, motor vehicle crashes have a life-altering impact on victims throughout our state. Regrettably, no one is out of harm’s way when it comes to the possibility of being hurt. In fact, those who are traveling outside of vehicles are even at risk. Pedestrian collisions are often catastrophic due to the fact that these people are not protected from outside forces. Although we like to believe we are taking measures toward protecting pedestrians, we continue to see them hurt and killed at an alarming rate. Between 2018 and 2019, the state of Oregon saw a 22% increase in the number of pedestrians who lost their lives in traffic collisions. Portland alone loses roughly 20 people annually as a result of pedestrian crashes.
Regrettably, we continue to see a significant number of people lose their lives in accidents due to the negligence of others. When victims lose their lives in accidents caused by distracted drivers, drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or drivers engaging in other negligent actions were operating their vehicles, it is crucial that their family seek the assistance of a wrongful death attorney in Portland as soon as possible.
