Portland, OR – Multi-Vehicle Truck Wreck on I-5 Takes One Life, Leaves Others Injured
Portland, OR (October 20, 2022) – Around 65 vehicles were involved in a major motor vehicle accident on Wednesday morning that claimed one person’s life. On October 19, the Oregon State Police responded to the scene of a major crash on Interstate 5.
According to reports, a collision involving approximately 20 semi-truck tractor-trailers and 45 passenger vehicles occurred on Interstate 5, causing a massive gridlock in traffic that spanned from the Halsey-Brownville exit in Linn County for nearly a mile down the roadway. Both hazmat and the Department of Environmental Quality responded to the scene to assist after half of a dozen semi-trucks reportedly leaked fluids along the interstate.
Authorities confirmed that one person involved in the motor vehicle collision was fatally injured. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. An unknown number of people were treated for injuries following the crash.
The Oregon State Police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause.
