Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Oregon

Portland, OR – Linda Wisher Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Madrona Ave SE near Woodbridge Court SEPedestrian crashes take the lives of thousands of people across the United States each year. Unfortunately, we see these accidents take place in the state of Oregon quite frequently. In many instances, innocent people lose their lives as a result of drivers who engage in reckless and careless actions while behind the wheel. In fact, distracted driving, failure to yield, and speeding are all leading causes of fatal pedestrian crashes that we see here in the state of Oregon every year.

When it comes to distracted driving, this can include any action that diverts a driver’s attention away from the task of driving. Some of the most common causes of fatal pedestrian crashes include people using cell phones, eating, drinking, or even talking to passengers.

Failure to yield is another leading factor that continues to take the lives of innocent pedestrians in Oregon and across the nation. This occurs when a driver does not yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian who has the legal right to proceed.

Unfortunately, speeding is also a contributing factor in many accidents that we see here in Oregon that take the lives of innocent pedestrians. Speeding is simply driving too fast for road conditions. Speeding can make it difficult for drivers to stop in time if someone suddenly appears on the roadway.

All of these behaviors put pedestrians at risk and can lead to tragic consequences. If your loved one has died as a result of a fatal pedestrian accident, a Portland wrongful death lawyer can help your family get justice.
