Portland, OR (June 14, 2021) – One person has lost their life following a head-on collision in the Salem area on Saturday evening. At approximately 9 p.m., on June 12, emergency crews received the request for assistance at the scene of an accident on Cordon Road Northeast.

Reports from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office show that a deputy was traveling on Cordon Road when their vehicle became involved in a head-on collision with a 2005 Hyundai Elantra near Ward Drive Northeast.

The impact of the crash left both vehicles with moderate front-end damage. The deputy, identified as 13-year veteran Bryce Mintz was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 40-year-old Jennifer Farrell, was pronounced deceased from her injuries. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.
