Car Accidents in Oregon
Every year, car accidents and thousands of people across the state of Oregon to area hospitals for emergency medical care. Unfortunately, we see a dramatic increase year after year in the number of people who are left severely harmed as a result of collisions.
There are many factors that contribute to car accidents in Oregon. However, there are three leading factors that seem to play a role in the majority of cases. These leading factors are distracted driving, impaired driving, and speeding.
Distracted driving has become a big problem on Oregon roads in recent years. With the rise of cell phones and other electronic devices, more drivers are taking their eyes off the road to look at these devices. This can lead to serious accidents, as drivers may not see hazards in time or may fail to stop in time when traffic is backing up.
Impaired driving is also a major factor in vehicle collisions in Oregon. Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs can impair a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely. In some cases, it can even lead to blackouts or lapses in consciousness. This can obviously be very dangerous on the roadways.
Finally, speeding is another leading factor in car crashes in Oregon. Speeding makes it harder for drivers to control their vehicles and can lead to well-known dangers such as running red lights or stop signs, traveling too close to the vehicle ahead, and weaving between lanes of traffic. All of these dangers can increase the likelihood of an accident occurring.
