Car Accidents in Oregon
Every year, tens of thousands of motor vehicle accidents take place in the state of war. The majority of the time, careless and negligent drivers are to blame for the injuries that they cause to innocent people. When drivers fail to maintain their vehicles in a way that is both safe and responsible, they continue to endanger the lives of other drivers who are just trying to go about their business on the roads nearby.
In incidents involving motor vehicles across our state, the following factors were found to be among the most frequently reported attributing factors:
- Speeding: When drivers exceed the posted speed limit, they put others on the road in danger of being involved in serious collisions that can leave victims with life-changing injuries.
- Intoxication: Intoxicated drivers frequently struggle to stay awake, remain in their lanes, and come to a complete stop while approaching crossroads or other high-traffic locations.
- Running red lights: When approaching intersections that are controlled by red lights, it is crucial for drivers to come to a complete stop and wait for the light to change to green for them. Red lights at intersections provide safe passing for other drivers. Drivers that fail to stop at red lights often cause devastating collisions, which, in turn, cause countless injuries. The sad reality is that more than half of the collisions that take place in our state occur at intersections due to accidents that are completely preventable.
