Portland, OR (August 31, 2021) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the Portland area on Friday sent several people to area hospitals with injuries. On August 27, the Oregon State Police responded to the scene of an accident on Highway 26.

Reports from authorities show that 61-year-old Troy McClaflin was driving a green pickup truck while hauling a trailer on Highway 26. For unknown reasons, he rear-ended an SUV.

The SUV, which was occupied by five Hood to Coast relay runners, sustained moderate damage.

All five runners involved in the accident were injured.

McClaflin was arrested and charged with DUII. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
