Portland, OR (August 6, 2021) – One woman was rushed to a local hospital with injuries following a traffic-related incident in Yamhill County on Wednesday. On August 4, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at the Willamette River.

Reports from authorities show that a 42-year-old woman from McMinnville was utilizing a kayak on the Willamette River between Dayton and Wheatland Ferry. At around 5 p.m., a Piper Super Cub airplane attempted to take off and struck the woman. The woman was knocked off her vehicle and into the river.

A marine patrol boat and water rescue boat rushed to the scene to recover the woman from the water. She was rushed via ambulance to a local hospital for care. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
