Car Accidents in Oregon
Being involved in an accident can have an overwhelming impact on a person’s life. Every year, tens of thousands of people across Oregon are hospitalized with serious injuries due to traffic collisions. Many accidents that we see are caused by negligent and reckless drivers. Leading factors include:
Distracted driving: Distracted drivers can lose focus on the road, miss important signs or signals, and fail to react in time to avoid an accident. Unfortunately, many accidents take place as a result of drivers who are texting on the phone, eating, or even changing the radio.
- Speeding: Speeding drivers have less time to react to sudden changes in traffic and may not be able to control their vehicles while traveling along curved roadways and while approaching heavy congestion.
- DUI: Impaired drivers have slower reaction times, impaired vision, and reduced judgment, which can all lead to accidents. Regrettably, we see countless accidents take place as a result of drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Reckless driving actions: reckless driving actions continue to cause severe harm to others sharing the road. This can include tailgating, weaving between traffic, and even running red lights at intersections.
- Inclement weather: Reduced visibility and slippery roads can lead to accidents if drivers do not adjust their driving accordingly. Unfortunately, we see many accidents take place as a result of snow, rain, and other inclement weather conditions.
