Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Oregon

Portland, OR – Bicyclist Jeff Neel Killed in Crash on Highway 30 near MM 23Between 2018 and 2019, the state of Oregon saw a 22% increase in the number of pedestrian fatalities from motor vehicle collisions. Portland alone loses roughly 20 people each year as a result of pedestrian crashes. Although we like to think that the implementation of safety measures throughout our state is helping, we continue to see families devastated by these and other tragic collisions.

When people are killed in bicycle accidents, their families are often left to pay tens of thousands of dollars on funeral expenses. Not only are families left to deal with the immediate and overwhelming impacts of pedestrian crashes, but the long-term mental and emotional consequences can be unbearable. To make the situation even more devastating, families often lose sources of income that they have grown to depend on.

Although there is nothing that can be done to bring back those taken away suddenly and unexpectedly, families may have legal options available to help them move forward after suffering the loss of a loved one due to another person’s actions. By contacting a wrongful death attorney in Portland, families may be able to obtain compensation to help cover the financial burdens they face.
